My story with puppets
The world of children has always fascinated me, and it teaches me something new every day. For over 20 years, I've been experiencing stories with them through marionettes – little wooden actors who can conjure laughter, suspense, and small life lessons. My puppet journey began in childhood when my grandfather gifted me my first ensemble of puppets. The hours we spent playing together showed me how much play can open up the imagination and connect people.
Later, I graduated with a degree in special education, which allowed me to better understand the diverse needs of children. Puppets have a magical ability to calm children, engage them in play, and foster their joy of discovery. Because of this, puppets became my indispensable tool – they combine learning with play and joy, and provide an experience that both children and adults enjoy.
What do puppets mean to me
Today, I perform with puppets not only in kindergartens and nurseries but also in schools, after-school clubs, and retirement homes, in theatres for the public, and at private events. Each performance is unique for me – children get involved in the story, learn to cooperate and solve problems, while at the same time experiencing the magic of fairytales. Marionettes are not just toys – they are little actors who tell stories, teach values, and bring closer the tradition of Czech puppetry, which has been a part of UNESCO since 2016. For me, every smile, every child's engagement, and the memories of adults are a confirmation that my work has meaning and that marionettes can truly work wonders.
